Introduction to the best Danish tv series
If one thing is for sure then it’s that Danish Movies have been booming. One could say the same for Danish tv series. TV-series are perhaps less known to the bigger public, but there have been some big successes in Denmark lately. In our European Series section we discuss the very best TV series of europe. It is evident that Danish tv series are ranking amongst the top. Danish tv-series are of course very popular within Denmark. Outside Denmark they have gathered increasing popularity as well. Unfortunately Americans have a tendency to produce remakes of foreign movies and series. This is also what happened to the Killing. We hold that the american version does not even come close to the original Danish version.
The funny thing about Danish Cinema is it has a very small amount of actors and actresses. In the Danish films you always see the same casting, but there is a very clear separation between movie actors and tv series actors. In all the Danish Series you also very often see the same faces, but you will hardly find them in the Danish Movies.
Anyway here is our top 2 of best Danish Series. It is based on how we perceive how popular the tv shows are. We know watching series is time-consuming so we limited ourselves to a few tv series per country.

1. The Killing
Our #1 Danish tv series is Forbrydelsen (The Killing) which
has been a great success nationally as well as internationally. The Americans made a remake. The Killing now is in its second season. It is about a female Danish Detective solving murder cases. Instead of a new murder each episode, it takes a whole season until the first case is closed.
The Bridge (Bron Broen)
Our #2 best Danish tv series is Bron (The Bridge) which is actually a collaboration 
between Denmark and Sweden. It tells the story of a dead body that has been found on the bridge between Copenhagen and Malmo. It is exactly in the middle resulting in the police forces of Denmark and Sweden to work together. Just as with the Jurisdiction the production is also considered to be a Swedish / Danish series.
3. Borgen (2010)
The Political Drama series Borgen is also very popular. It has just sold its rights to BBC and will be broadcasted on BBC Four. You can follow a female prime minister in her rise to the top. As we all know, Power is a transforming thing. Read about and watch the trailer of Borgen.
