Most Popular Dutch Directors

Here is our little list of the most popular and important Dutch filmmakers. There are just a few famous Dutch directors, but we have listed the ones that are the most well-known. At least within the Netherlands they are the biggest.

Let us know what you think. This is just a subjective list. It is however, based on the popularity of the directors in question with an eye on the most highly appreciated Dutch Movies. We have to admit, however, that our list is not very recent. When looking at who is important in modern Dutch cinema, we should also make mention of Antoinette Beumer and Martin Koolhoven. We especially recommend Martin Koolhoven’s recent film ‘Oorlogswinter’.
