Stalingrad – Russia’s first 3D war movie | Release date: TBA (2013)

This will be the very first exclusively Russia produced 3D movie. This IMAX flick will be about the famous legendary battle at Stalingrad during the Second World War when the Germans occupied the Banks of the Volga river in 1942. Besides a Russian war movie, it is also a bit of a Russian romantic movie, since the plotline describes it as a dramatic love story against the backdrop of a giant battle. Stalingrad is directed by the famous Russian actor and film-maker Fedor Bondarchuk, who actually also played a part in the 1981 film by the same name. The same goes for the character played by German actor Thomas Kretschmann ( King Kong, Der Untergang). This new Russian movie will be released in 2013, but no official release date has been confirmed. It is currently in post-production. It will be produced in 2D, 3D and IMAX.

It is also recognized to be a great Russian comedy with black humor. Now they are making an animation movie, and it seems very promising. A trailer has already been produced. You can actually watch the original movie for free with English subtitles on Youtube. It is pretty difficult to get it on DVD.
