As we have also discussed in our Finnish Movies section, Finnish cinema is something special. It might not have a lot to offer in terms of quantity, but it definitely has some high quality productions.  When it comes to TV-Series from Finland all arrows point in one direction -> Raid. We have to admit that we had heared of it, but had not yet seen it. While asking around about Finnish TV-series the answer was always: watch raid. So that is what we did. And indeed, raid is great.

We are determined to find a few other great ones but let’s just stick with Raid for now. If you have other suggestions for best Finnish Series please leave a comment. It will be very much appreciated.

1. Finnish tv series: Raid

The most well-known Finnish Series. It has even exported to the United States for a whle. The Independent film channel MHZ Networks aired it as one of their Foreign tv-series. Raid did by far the best. raid finnish tv seriesWithin Finland it was incredibly popular with around 20 % of the population watching the TV-series. Meaning that within Finland it had around 1 million viewers on averge.

It is a creation of the Finnish TV Company YLE. It is directed by Tapio Piirainen and also co-written by Harri Nykanen on whose books the series is based. It is a Fiinish Detective series with great supsense and dark sense of humour. Raid is the name of the main character about who the tv-show revolves around.

In 2003 Raid the movie was released.

Unfortunately it has proven immensely difficult to find a trailer of Raid with English subtitles. We hope the images and music speaks for itself:
